H.A.C Flash of The Week (Invest in youth)

NY Red Bulls played yesterday against the New England Revolution 2-1. This game was very important because the team did not win a game since April 30th (5 ties and 2 losses). These negative performances are mainly due to the international players leaving for international duty (Gold Cup). This is foremost the case for central defender Rafael Marquez and offensive midfielder Dwayne de Rosario.
The management should look for a creative midfielder and solid central defender in the future. It would be a good idea to invest in young, talented players. So far MLS teams have been able to attract players to finish their careers in the United States with David Beckham being the most famous. However, MLS management, including NY, should look at partnerships with soccer schools in Spain and England; this would be beneficial for the Red bulls and development of it's youth academy. In fact, best players like Ronaldo and Messi were all in soccer schools before becoming the stars that they are today.  In my opinion, it is paramount to invest in the youth. What is yours?

The Knicks without Walsh

Donnie Walsh has stepped down as Knicks president of basketball operations. This news was a surprise for all the staff including Carmelo Anthony whom stated “I was up in Westchester [Knicks facility] and someone pulled me aside and told me. It caught a lot of people by surprise, because no one knew what was going on." (Courtesy of yahoo sports)
Donnie Walsh officially resigned for personal reasons. He was responsible for clearing the salary cap and signing Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. By doing so, he made the NY Knicks a playoff contender this year. (First playoff appearance since 2004)
James Dolan, Executive Chairman of Madison Square Garden, should look for an imminent replacement to keep the excitement around the team and so that players like Chris Paul or Dwight Howard are interested in signing as free agents to a team with good players as well as good staff members.  Do you think players focus more on other team players? the management stability? or both like I do?

H.A.C Flash of the Week (Building the Knicks)

Every Thursday, the HAC Flash of the week will be presented. Even though the blog will focus on management movements like trades, business investment, opening of new ventures and endorsement deals;  Henry Anthony and Company is foremost a sports blog. Therefore, all weekly results of both Red Bulls and the Knicks will be shared on Thursday. These HAC Flashes will be an opportunity to have a platform to talk about the performance of the teams and their leaders. Depending on their results, we will eventually go back to talk to the management and share ideas of how Donnie Walsh (President of basketball operations for the Knicks) and Erik Soler (General Manager and Sporting Director for the Red Bulls) could make the team more competitive and more popular to create more revenues.
The season of the New York Knicks ended in the first round of the playoffs by a 4-0 loss against the Boston Celtics. The first weekly flash is the presentation of Carmelo Anthony for the New York Knicks as a reminder to all Knicks fans that a competitive team is still in the making. Starting next week, all HAC flashes will focus on Henry and the Red Bulls - currently 1st in the East - who are in the middle of the MLS season until the beginning of the NBA season.

About HenryAnthony&Company(H.A.C)

Five years ago, I went to New York City for the first time. It was a short visit therefore I was looking for entertaining places in the city. First, I went to Time Square. As soon as I exited the subway, I really fell in love with the city. Next, as a basketball and soccer fan, I wanted to watch either a basketball game or a soccer game. However, people do not enjoy watching the New York Knicks. They go more often to the Bronx to watch the New York Yankees. In the same way, people would rather watch the New York Giants than New York Red Bulls. Since this moment, I really became interested in the results of these two teams -- Knicks and Red Bulls.
First, it was really disappointing as the Knicks management was clearing its salary cap in order to land NBA star players like LeBron James. Because of this, the team was not competitive for a long time. However, the business investment paid off as they acquired Amare Stoudemire(NBA All-Star) and Carmelo Anthony (NCAA champion in 2003). As far as the Red Bulls are concerned, the management had  Thierry Henry at sight, one of the best strikers in the world who was having trouble in Europe and was spending his summers in New York since 1996. They finally got a four year contract with him last year. Because of both management successes, I think both teams will become more popular in the city in the years to come. When this happens, the next time anybody is looking for entertaining places in the city, they would check out Thierry Henry or Carmelo Anthony.

Ideal moment of the day

Due Date: May 31, 2011

The New York City metropolitan area has nine teams in the four major North American professional sports leagues, each of which also has its headquarters in the city. Some of these teams are very popular like the New York Yankees due to their 27 championships, others like the New York Red bulls (0 championships) and the New Yorks Knicks (2 championships) are less popular. Thierry Henry is one of the best soccer players in the world and has recently signed a contract with the New York Red Bulls. Also Carmelo Anthony is a one of the premiere basketball player in the NBA and has joined the Knicks in the beginning of 2011. HenryAnthony&company is a blog about these two organizations and how they aspire to be as great as the other teams in the city.

Today’s picture shows lights travelling a road (picture credited to frcsyk).  This picture represents the arrival of these stars in the city to extend the popularity of these sports. To do so, great management is necessary too. This is why the road in which the lights are travelling is well designed so that success and fireworks is at the end of the journey. This blog would indeed cover all the management’s changes. For instance The Red Bulls' owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, completed building the new stadium in Harrison New Jersey for the 2010 MLS season. The venue, named Red Bull Arena is a soccer-specific stadium with a capacity of just over 25,000. This picture is therefore a representation of HenryAnthony&Company ideals.
